Have you been to a listen club yet? They are in their second year now bringing the finest sound artists to the stage (well a stool and table by the stage on the floor but…) to share sounds and talk about them. Communal deep listening is the vibe and each month people gather to listen and talk about it in a relaxed environment .
Brought to you by the brilliant Sound Art Brighton people :)
Kathy Hinde will curate a listening session featuring sounds activated by the wind and music inspired by its movement. Expect recordings of structures brought into natural resonance by gusts - creaking trees, rattling fences, rhythmic boat masts, balcony railings, and reeds - alongside more intentional explorations of wind-driven soundscapes, including Aeolian harps, sound sculptures, and compositions shaped by the rise and fall of the breeze.
Kathy Hinde is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice embraces open methods and evolving processes. Through installations, performances and site specific experiences, she aims to nurture a deeper and more embodied connection to other species and the earth’s systems. She received an Ivor Novello Award for Sound Art in 2020 and an ORAM Award in 2017.
