  • The Rose Hill 70 Rose Hill Terrace Brighton, England, BN1 4JL United Kingdom (map)

SATURDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER 2025 | 7PM | £9 ADV / £12 OTD

Inspired by the symbiotic relationship that forms lichen, Lichon's music is created using the biodata of plants, fungi, and lichen, alongside field recordings and improvised instrumentation on violin, violin, guitar and synths. The pitch, tempo and structures are all directly informed by biodata, culminating in a meditative exploration of our environment and our place within it. Each live performance is unique and immersive, exploring various sonic landscapes, largely dependent on the activity of the particular plants that join the duo on stage. The music is motivated by ecological, technological and social changes, with responses expressing vulnerability, power, destructiveness and peace. Lichon's sound world is a reflection upon and response to the landscapes and intricate patterns found in flora and fauna. It encourages a shift in how humans think, how we relate to nature and how we are connected to this earth, our home.

Anisa is a British-Bosnian violinist and violist with extensive international experience and a multidisciplinary career. She has a passion for collaborating with artists across many genres (Beth Gibbons, Bonobo, Portico Quartet, Floating Points, Kae Tempest). Alex is a prolific composer and multi-instrumentalist. For several years he has made music from data collected in nature, has released an impressive number of works and given workshops and performances at Glastonbury Festival.
