TUESDAY 13TH MAY 2025 | 7PM | Supporter £13* / General £10* / Concs £7* *All tickets have a 90p booking fee

Red Shift, the final film in our series exploring English rural life, follows three men who at three different times in history come to Mow Cop Hill in search of sanctuary from their troubles. A Roman soldier, an English Civil War rebel and a 1970s teenager somehow all seem to be linked through an energy within the hill and an axe. Adapted by Alan Garner from his own cult, fantasy novel and directed by John Mackenzie.

Prior to the feature, we will be showing 'The Edge of the Ceiling', a short documentary from Granada TV in the 1980’s, in which Alan Garner shares his unique writing processes. Garner's writing was informed heavily by the landscapes he grew up in, interweaved with folklore and dark fantasy.

This screening has been programmed in collaboration with Rory Connolly, a member of Fabrica's Fresh Perspectives programming group who has also recently collaborated on screenings with The Cowley Club and SolFed.
