Lava Elastic started a few years ago in Brighton and was the UK's first openly neurodiverse comedy & poetry night. Hosted by it's founder, late diagnosed performer (Autism/ADHD) Sarah Saeed
It's a night known for being hilarious, warm and welcoming and sometimes unpredictable (in good ways). Also known for it's lack of tolerance of hecklers and for it's host, Sarah S's love of lights, space projectors and all things glowing
'LAVA ELASTIC was created by performer, singer and promoter, Sarah Saeed, in response to her late diagnosis of Aspergers at the age of 38. This newfound awareness (and superpower!) drove her to put together a variety comedy show with a difference. An event that provides a warm and welcoming stage to all. And mostly to dispute the delusional myth that people on the autistic spectrum don't have a sense of humour and can't be funny (which is obviously laughable in itself, have you seen Dan Ackroyd in Trading Places?)
Your host SARAH S
Sarah S has performed since her youth, including gigging at events as her comedy alter-ego Marianna Harlotta, an operatic diva extraordinaire...with a twist. Covering songs, with the help of her violin-playing boy ‘Vladimir Chestikov’ that most classical musicians would steer well clear of. As Marianna Harlotta she has performed at events as varied as Brighton Pride Regency (outdoor) picnic, The Catflap Stage for Bearded Kitten at Love box Festival, London.
She ran her own event at The Nightingale Room, Brighton, hosted by Marianna Harlotta called 'A...Live at The Nightingale' (pre late diagnoses) and also performed at night's like The Tusk and Garter Club at The Hanbury Ballroom, Brighton plus more gigs in various weird and wonderful locations
Sarah S herself, (by her own admission) is 'not funny' but she loves funny people and is a long time comedy 'nerd'. She also has read and written poetry since she was a kid, but she is not a 'poet'. She considers herself the glue that holds the funny people, and Lava night's together...she is also a huge fan of lights, space projectors and all kinds of things that glow so you can expect a heathy amount of those at a 'Lava night' too
Lava Elastic is not just your average comedy night, it's a bit special...come and join us to see why...Vive la Difference!
