Alabaster DePlume + Hannah Miller

Long-time collaborators Hannah and Alabaster share a bill and a stage in celebration of the spontaneous and the genuinely vulnerable and new...

ALABASTER DEPLUME (quartet)

A ruthlessly creative approach to experimental pop music, developed in a monthly East London residency described in the Guardian as “a reminder of how vital and adventurous music can be”, returns to Brighton to celebrate a forthcoming release on Lost Map. Eastern-influenced anthems under spoken self-mockery and biting social commentary both enjoy and rely upon interaction, humility and warmth. Based in underground East London’s Total Refreshment Centre, saxophonist and spoken word artist Alabaster creates a new band each month in his development residency Peach. PRSF have funded his forthcoming release on Lost Map, this show celebrating the single They Put The Stars Far Away. His group tonight includes Hannah Miller (cello/voice), Marcus Hamblett (gtr) and Ursulla Russell (drums).

“Totally unique… Very, very brilliant indeed” – Max Reinhardt, BBC Radio 3

“One of the most thrilling performances I’ve seen this year" The Guardian

“…Majesty” – Q Magazine

“a torrent of words and ideas that never fail to inspire” – CLASH Music

HANNAH MILLER

Committed since infancy to development of craft and fearless embrace of fresh creative challenge, the mastery commanded by this voice has liberated countless spirits worldwide. Having reared the legendary Moulettes over the best part of two decades, engaging a trans-atlantic army and cross-disciplinary output, this artist refuses, all the same, to be tied to any style, group or approach. We are blessed with an early performance tonight, of fresh work and creative endeavour, just as we are blessed, by the warmth and freedom of this unforgettable character and soul.

“Unique. Delicious music” **** MOJO
