Ever since putting a hydrophone into his mouth (followed by some popping candy and a tuning fork) Al Strachan has nurtured an interest in how the human body can be utilised by musicians and sound artists. For Listen Club #27 he will delve into the history of this practice, playing recordings of artists who incorporated heart beats, digestive gurgles and more into their sonic adventures.
Al Strachan is an improvising musician who uses cornet, electronics and hydrophones to make soundworlds. He is also a key member of three Brighton-based music and sound art collectives: Safehouse, Lost Property and Sound Art Brighton.
