Ceremonial Laptop: vveber + jxn xoxo + operationz

Always excited for our monthly night with this young collective of sound travellers.

Berlin-based musician and producer Alexander VVeber was working as an integration coach and teacher for German language since the beginning of 2016 until recently. Through his job he was in constant contact with people from Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, Somalia and Eritrea. Inspired by the cultural and personal exchange he started composing the music for ANA MA ANA, released last year. Even if talking is not possible because of the barrier of language music is a way to communicate. It can be a way to transmit culture, emotion and a feeling of home.

ANA MA ANA translates from Arabic into English as "I am not myself“. The strangeness, also from the own self, is reflected in the music. Electronic compositions are mixed with traditional folk music from these countries. The traditional parts, however, are extremely alienated through effects and sound manipulation. Recorded fragments of poems that were written in class illustrate the search for identity in a new reality.

jxn xoxo will perform 'golden star', a tribute to the best wrestler in the world kota ibushi and his rise in the dramatic dream team promotion <33

New to the Brighton scene, Operationz is long time noise maker Oliver Powell, who is no stranger to the Avant-Garde. He explores many realms and dimensions of comb filtering, delay and feedback to create waves of harmonic journeys from guitars and synths, to rhythm and beats; all guided by the voice of his thoughts. A music technology student who prides himself as a sound artist, musician, noise maker and producer, he has explored and experiment with different styles of alternative, electronic and underground music.
